Field Hockey Gloves

Do Field Hockey Players wear gloves?

Typically field hockey players do not wear gloves except when playing indoor.  Indoor players wear a left-hand glove only to protect that hand against the hard service.   There are gloves with an open palm option to better grip the stick.  There are gloves that have textured palms for gripping.   Some gloves offer thumb protection and some do not.   Also, some gloves cover only the first part of the fingers where as other gloves offer longer fingers for more protection.   All of these options are personal preference.

Other times to wear gloves are if you have an injury OR for warmth in bad weather.  There are gloves that are sold as a pair for the weather.
