Information About Softball Bats
What size Softball Bat do I need?
Place the bat knob at the center of your chest and extend the barrel out toward your fingertips. If you can touch the end of the bat with your fingertips, the bat is an appropriate length.
What does "Drop" mean and how do I know what drop I should use?
Drop is the difference between the inches and ounces, usually displayed as a minus sign on the bat. For example a 30" and 17 oz. bat would be a drop -13.
Players 10 and under usually play with a high drop. 10 and older will probably use a -10 and then, of course, the advance -9 or -8.
What is the difference in Softball bat components?
Aluminum or alloy-based bats are cheaper than composite. Composite bats are typically heavier and have more power. Aluminum bats can have a sting and so batting gloves can be helpful.
TIP: Bat Speed and Bat Control are most important factors to purchase a bat.
TIP: Bat Speed it the number on supplier of power no matter what bat is used.
